How to find the turbo code

The turbocharger code is usually on a plate or stamped on the turbo body. Sharing it helps us identify the exact replacement.

Where the code is

First check the metal plate attached to the centre housing. If it is missing or unreadable, inspect the compressor housing: the code may be stamped directly into the casting.

By manufacturer

• Garrett: code such as 760698-5004S or a model reference such as GT1749V.
• BorgWarner / KKK: format 5439-970-0070 or 53039880139.
• Mitsubishi: format 49335-00640.
• IHI: codes such as VF40, RHF5.
